Oklahoma - "Second Worst"
And what is it that the maker of this ridiculous list harps on most in choosing Oklahoma as "second worst" in the nation? Abortion.
"Choice is extremely limited in Oklahoma, where 96 percent of counties have no abortion provider and there are only six such doctors in the entire state. Health insurance companies are banned from covering the procedure (except in cases of rape, incest or threat to the mother’s life). Women seeking an abortion have to wait 24 hours after undergoing a sonogram where they will be offered a chance to view the fetus and are required to listen to a description of the image on the screen. The state legislature is working to limit choice even further. The state Senate recently passed a Personhood bill that gives legal personhood rights to embryos from the moment of fertilization. The bill is awaiting action in the House. A “Heartbeat” bill requiring doctors to tell women they have the right to hear the fetal heartbeat before ending a pregnancy passed the state Senate in early March and is awaiting action by the House. If passed, both bills will likely be signed by anti-choice Gov. Mary Fallin."
If this is the criteria then Oklahoma can do better. We can strive for that number one slot. Be 'worst' for women and best for babies. According to the writer for iVillage, Cynthia Ramnarace, there are only six abortion 'doctors' in our state. I choose to refer to them as The Killers Among Us.
And as for iVillage.com, all I will say is that the top story today under their logo is "Watch: Alicia Silverstone Feeds Son Food From Her Mouth."
Very classy.

Using Trayvon for Profit
But, that doesn't stop some from seizing this event for their own selfish gain. And the ones attempting to profit from this are the same people screaming the loudest about "injustice".
Let's start with the New Blank Panthers. They have offered a $10,000 bounty for George Zimmerman. I have yet to see any statement from them on what they would do with Zimmerman, should they get their hands on him. New Black Panther leader Mikhail Muhammad announced the reward during a protest last Saturday. When asked whether he was inciting violence, Muhammad replied defiantly: "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth."
Muhammad said the group's national chairman, Dr. Malik Zulu Shabaz of Washington, D.C.is receiving donations from black entertainers and athletes. They hope to collect $1 million by next week, Muhammad said. The party said they would not release the names of donors nor would they provide documentation to support the existence of donations.
Next we have Trayvon's own mother, Sybrina Fulton. She has has sought to trademark two phrases: “Justice for Trayvon” and “I Am Trayvon." Her lawyer claimed Fulton wants to safeguard intellectual property rights for "projects that will assist other families who experience similar tragedies."
When a reporter asked if Fulton had any designs to make a profit, the lawyer said, "None."
Uh huh.
Many others have seized the opportunity to make a profit from merchandise. EBay has several hundred Trayvon Martin items for sale. Websites spreadshirt.com and cafepress.com are among those making a profit from Trayvon's death.
President Obama has also jumped into the fray for some face time with the media, saying if he'd had a son he would look like Trayvon.

Communists Give Obama Thumbs Up
Sam Webb, chairman of the Communist Party USA, said he is disappointed with "some aspects" of Obama's domestic and foreign policy, but threw his support behind Obama nonetheless.
The communists have a history of supporting Obama, beginning with his campaign for Senator from Illinois in 2004. They also supported him for President in 2008.
After Obama's election to President, Webb addressed the Communist Party USA National Committee and said, "The left can and should advance its own views and disagree with the Obama administration without being disagreeable. Its tone should be respectful. We are speaking to a friend."
Today it's been noticed by many that the domain communists.com redirects to barackobama.com.
And who is surprised at that?

Chick-fil-A Faces Campus Opposition
Family Research Council
Exodus International
Focus On the Family
Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Marriage & Family Legacy Fund
What makes these groups "hate groups", the liberals say, is that they are all "anti-gay".
Chick-fil-A has been blocked from opening a franchise on the campus of Boston's Northeastern University. A small group of students complained about the organizations to which the company contributed. They followed their objections to allowing the chain on campus by gathering bout 300 signatures - 1.5% of the student body. The Student Government Association then voted 31-5 not to allow Chick-fil-A to become a vendor.
Chick-fil-A also has faced opposition at Duke University, Bowling Green University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Gainesville State College, Indiana University South Bend, Mississippi State University, Texas Tech University, the University of North Texas, Loyola Law School and New York University.
At NYU an online petition was started asking school officials to close the existing Chick-fil-A location on campus. The petition now includes almost 11,000 signatures.
Also at NYU, a fictitious flyer was handed out on the campus by two men pretending to be Chick-fil-A employees. The flyer said: "Please be prepared to discuss your religion, family history, personal relationships etc upon interviewing. Chick-fil-A reserves the right to question, in detail, your sexual relationship history. Anyone living in sin need not apply."
Chick-fil-A responded on their Facebook page: "Chick-fil-A fans, we're aware of a fake and inappropriate flyer that is circulating the web right now. We can assure you that this was not created or distributed by any Chick-fil-A Restaurant or any of its independent Operators. Chick-fil-A serves all of our customers, team members and potential team members with the utmost honor, dignity and respect. Thanks for your continued support!"
The chair of the Student Senators Council at NYU got it right. He emailed students to say the Council voted not to remove the restaurant. He said, "The SSC also believes there is a fundamental difference between personal boycott and institutional prohibition. To ban any entity from campus for ideological reasons is, in most every case, to limit freedom of expression."
Chick-fil-A disagrees with the issues brought forward by students.
"We're a restaurant that has a hospitality that says we're here to embrace everyone who wants to come and be part of Chick-fil-A," said Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy. "So to be identified with some sort of hate group that has a political agenda – that is not Chick-fil-A at all."
Typing all this about Chick-fil-A has me craving a number 1 combo, hold the pickle. But, it's Sunday and all Chick-fil-A locations are closed. Probably another reason some students don't like them!
From the Chick-fil-A website:
Why We're Closed on Sundays
Our founder, Truett Cathy, made the decision to close on Sundays in 1946 when he opened his first restaurant in Hapeville, Georgia. He has often shared that his decision was as much practical as spiritual. He believes that all franchised Chick-fil-A Operators and their Restaurant employees should have an opportunity to rest, spend time with family and friends, and worship if they choose to do so. That's why all Chick-fil-A Restaurants are closed on Sundays. It's part of our recipe for success.

The Killers Among Us
Their killers had no shame. No regret. No hesitation. Cold. Calculated. Methodical. Efficient. The instruments of death varied. Each killer had his own tools and his own preferred method. They profited from their murders. The more they killed; the more wealth they acquired.
There were many places for the killing to take place. After all, there was a lot of killing to do. People knew what was going on. Some openly said it was better for everyone if the killing continued. Some said it was better for those killed if they were dead. Those killed were not wanted. They were undesirables. Some were killed for having handicaps. Mental handicaps. Physical handicaps.
The lives of those killed were not relevant. Their rights were not relevant. Their contributions to society were not relevant. All that mattered was that there were those who wanted them dead. They were given no hearing. No trial. No appeal. Only a quick death. Some resisted their killers, but were too weak and suffered the same fate as the rest.
There were those who longed for the killing to begin, long before the people were ready as a nation. There were isolated murders here and there. There were rallies and protests. The soul of the nation began to turn. It was time to make it legal. And not just legal, but preferred. The killing had occurred for years before the government stepped in, not to stop it, but to endorse it. Regulate it. Defend it. Fund it.
People applauded the killing. There were people who wrote endorsements for the killing. Those who spoke publicly in favor of it, even demanding it. Those who were killed had no say in the matter. Others decided their fate for them.
The slaughterhouses where they died were ordinary buildings. Inside was a house of horrors and death. People with no consciences worked in these buildings. They would snuff the life out of human beings, then eat their lunch in a room next to the death chamber. They earned a living by killing.
The killers did not consider those they killed to be human beings. They were not worthy of proper funerals. Their bodies had various destinations. Some were sent for medical experimentation. Some were buried in large pits. Some were thrown away with the days trash. Some were burned in an open field.
Very few survived the attempt to kill them. It was common for survivors to suffer the rest of their lives. Some had visible scars and wounds from the attempt. Some had missing limbs. Some had permanent brain damage.
The killing many readers probably thought I have written about did end.
This killing continues. As a nation, we have allowed millions and millions to be killed. Will it ever end?

Democrats: Complete Lack of Class
I cannot imagine a more profane piece of merchandise being sold by a politician. Once again, the Democrats demonstrate how completely without class they are.
If you don't know why this is profane, Google it. I'm not elaborating on my blog. If you want profanity turn on Bill Maher.
Frank Lucas: Don't Cut My Pork
None of the House Democrats are expected to support the Ryan plan. Like their Senate Democrat colleagues, they would probably prefer to have no budget at all.
The plan by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan has caused some Republicans some concern due to not having deep enough spending cuts. Other Republicans think some cuts are too much. Oklahoma Rep. Frank Lucas, Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, disagrees with the proposed $33 billion in cuts to farm subsidies and crop insurance.Lucas prefers a compromise cut of about $10 billion over ten years and an increase in the crop insurance program.
"I would caution people about reading too much into the numbers or policy proposals in either the President's budget or the Ryan budget. They are only suggestions. During our process, both policy and deficit reduction targets will be developed in conjunction with Ranking Member Peterson [(D-MN)] and members of the Committee as we write a fiscally responsible Farm Bill that ensures Americans continue to have a safe, affordable, and stable food supply," Lucas said in a statement.
Lucas has represented the western portion of Oklahoma since 1994. Formerly the 6th district, Lucas now represents the 3rd district after population changes cost the state a House seat. His district has a large amount of farmland and Lucas has been very successful at bringing home the subsidy bacon.
From 2003 through 2005, $14.7 billion in crop subsidies went to the congressional districts of members on the House Committee on Agriculture, an analysis by the non-partisan Environmental Working Group found. That was 42.4% of the total subsidies. A 2007 USA Today article charts the subsidies and shows Lucas getting $422 million for his district.
Lucas must have forgotten what he said about taxes and government spending on his website:
"Spending in Congress has reached historic levels during the 111th Congress. The fiscally irresponsible behavior of former Speaker Pelosi and President Obama has driven our national debt level to the point that it is almost equal to the size of our entire economy. This is unacceptable and it must stop.
I have opposed – and will continue to oppose – spending initiatives that dramatically increase the size and scope of the federal government while adding to our already massive national debt. I have long been a supporter of tax reform and will continue to fight against increases in taxes and wasteful federal spending. Congress must get back to the business of fiscal responsibility and strive for a balanced budget without raising the taxes of hard-working Americans."
His voting record would seem to be in direct conflict with his statements on government spending. The Heritage Action for America legislative scorecard gives Lucas an abysmal 54%. By comparison, Oklahoma's lone Democrat in Congress, Dan Boren, scored 47%.
Lucas needs to read the Six Reasons to Repeal Farm Subsidies by Chris Edwards of the Cato Institute.
1. Farm subsidies redistribute wealth.
2. Farm subsidies damage the economy.
3. Farm programs are prone to scandal.
4. Farm subsidies damage U.S. trade relations.
5. Farm programs damage the environment.
6. Agriculture would thrive without subsidies.
But, it probably wouldn't matter. $422 million buys a lot of votes.
IMF Head: Leave Iran Alone
"Clearly it would be a shock to economies if there was a major shortage of exports of oil out of Iran; it would certainly drive up prices for a period of time," Lagarde told reporters.
The stiff sanctions imposed on Iran by the United States and the European Union have caused tensions with Iran, which rejects accusations that it is developing an atomic bomb from their nuclear program.
Iran has threatened to retaliate against the West, including a possible disruption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a busy shipping lane for oil.
Lagarde didn't directly say that Iran should be left alone to complete their nuclear program, but her economic prediction would certainly seem to be a warning to back off or suffer the economic consequences.

Oklahoma Libertarians Denied Injunction
In 2008, Libertarian candidate Bob Barr lost a lawsuit against Oklahoma and was not placed on the ballot. According to Independent Political Report, Oklahoma was the only state not to have independent or small party candidates on the presidential ballot in both 2008 and 2004.
No word yet on who the fifty people will now vote for who would have voted Libertarian. (Apologies to my Libertarian readers.)

Oklahoma Gun Laws - Striving To Be Worst
Senator Steve Russell has proposed several bills to expand gun rights in Oklahoma, including an open carry bill and another to permit concealed weapons on college campuses. The legislature has previously passed an open carry bill, but it was vetoed by then Governor Brad Henry.
I strongly encourage the Oklahoma legislature to make zero points their goal. After that, it is possible to score in the negative by enacting permitless concealed carry as Alaska and Arizona have.
What the Brady's fail to mention in their scorecard and accompanying press release is that 25% of all violent crime in the country occurs in the four states with the most restrictive firearms laws. Even if more restrictive gun laws could reduce crime, does that justify denying citizens their Second Amendment right to defend themselves and their families? Criminal acts by the minority should not result in restrictions on the law-abiding majority.
The Brady Center's scorecard is an attempt to bring about more restrictive gun laws. But, to gun rights advocates, their scorecard shines the spotlight on states denying citizens their basic rights and should serve as motivation to the rest of the states to be the worst. Be the absolute worst.
Oklahoma Democrats Scrap Their Own Rules
Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry was also on the ballot as a Democrat and he managed to take 18 percent of the vote. Terry had himself placed on the ballot in several states in order to enable his anti-abortion commercials to be broadcast, labeling them as political ads. FCC rules require ads from political candidates be broadcast, even if the television stations would ordinarily have rejected them due to content.
Despite party rules that say Terry is entitled to a share of Oklahoma's delegates to the Democratic convention, state party officials said last Friday that they would not give Terry any because they say he didn’t follow the party’s procedures and because he has proclaimed himself a “lifelong Republican.”
“He’s not a bona fide Democrat,” said Trav Robertson, the executive director of the state party.
Before the Oklahoma primary, Obama had won all of the Democratic delegates awarded this year, national party officials said.

Rep. James Lankford's Surprising Votes
After reviewing the scoring for Oklahoma's Congressional delegation, I was greatly surprised that Rep. James Lankford scored only 78% as of this post. Rep. Lankford was elected as a fiscal conservative and in town hall meetings, two of which I attended, he continually emphasized the need to get debt and spending under control. Some of his votes are in conflict with that need.
The rest of Oklahoma's delegation scored as I would have expected, with Senator Coburn scoring the highest from our state. The only positive thing about the voting from Reps. Lucas and Cole is that they are slightly better than the Democrats who used to be elected from those districts in years past.
Here are some of the votes for Rep. Lankford that puzzle me:

Truths That Will Shock Liberals
The best ones...
2) The greatest evil this country has ever committed isn't slavery; it's killing more than 50 million innocent children via abortion.
5) The biggest problem with our economy today is Barack Obama. His demonization of successful people, his driving up gas prices, his regulatory overload and threats to increase taxes have terrified businesses into hunkering down, refusing to spend money, and declining to hire new people. Replacing him would do more than any government policy to spur economic growth.
9) You don't have a "right" to anything that other people have to pay to provide for you.
16) The most dire threat to America's future and prosperity in the last 150 years hasn't been the Nazis, the Soviets, or Al-Qaeda;, it's the spending and overreach of our own government.
19) Jesus Christ was not a conservative, a liberal, or a politician. He was also not a capitalist or a socialist. Still, you can say this: Jesus drew sharp lines about what's right and wrong, he wasn't tolerant of what the Bible categorizes as sinful behavior, and there's absolutely no question that he would adamantly oppose abortion and gay marriage.

Parents of the Year
Ariel and Deborah Levy of Portland, OR are suing Legacy Health for $3 million. The reason? Their daughter was born with Down syndrome. The plaintiffs contend that Legacy Health failed to accurately perform a prenatal test for Down. The Levys have told the court that, had they known, they would have aborted their daughter.
The Levys have gone on record and said that their first choice would have been to kill their daughter in the womb. I hope their daughter never learns of this when she is older.
